Basic First Aid

Knowing first aid can save lives. With this curriculum, students will learn the basic steps they need to aid themselves and others with minor injuries and medical emergencies. They will also learn how to assess an accident scene and to only perform those skills that they have been taught. Students will learn when to call 911 for assistance.

  • Define Key Terms (e.g., “First Aid,” “Medical Emergency”)
  • Identify a Medical Emergency
  • Discuss the Term “Consent”
  • Explain Universal Precautions
  • Describe First Aid Procedures for a Wound or Cut
  • Identify and Describe Types of Burns
  • Identify Types of Fractures
  • Identify First Aid Procedure for Choking Victim
  • Describe Information to Gather from a Scene Assessment
