Recipients of the Autobody Repair (Adapted) Digital Badge Credential have demonstrated concept proficiency and completed the following tasks:
Activity One: Setting up an Autobody Repair Workstation
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put on the smock and gloves. |
3. Put the rag on the top left corner of the table. |
4. Put the safety glasses on top of the rag. |
5. Put the cheesecloth below the rag. |
6. Put the compound on top of the cheesecloth. |
7. Put the dinging hammer to the right of the rag. |
8. Put the dolly block to the right of the dinging hammer. |
9. Be careful when working with a surform planing tool and sanding block! Put the surform planing tool to the right of the dolly block and dinging hammer. |
10. Put the sanding block below the surform planing tool. |
11. Put the sandpaper below the sanding block. |
12. Have your teacher check your work. |
13. Clean up your work area. |
14. Wash your hands. |
Activity Two: Washing a Car
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put two capfuls of car washing soap into the bucket. |
3. Fill the bucket with water until it is about ¾ full. |
4. Use the hose to spray the car with water that is not too hot or too cold. |
5. Wet the wash mitt with the cleaning solution. |
6. Scrub the top of the car with the wash mitt. |
7. Rinse quickly with the hose before the suds dry. |
8. Wet the wash mitt. Scrub the car’s sides from front to back. Rinse quickly before the suds dry. |
9. Wet the wash mitt. Scrub the back of the car. Rinse quickly before the suds dry. |
10. Wet the wash mitt. Scrub the car’s hood and front bumper. Rinse quickly before the suds dry. |
11. Have your teacher check your work. |
12. Rinse the mitt with clean water from the hose. |
13. Ask your teacher where to dump the bucket of cleaning solution. |
14. Clean up your work area. |

Activity Three: Cleaning the Tires
1. Gather materials. |
2. Use the soap and water to make a cleaning solution like you did in Activity 2. |
3. Get the hose. Spray the tires. |
4. Dip the brush in the soap bucket and scrub the tire. |
5. Rinse the soap off with water from the hose. |
6. Scrub and rinse the other three tires. |
7. Have your teacher check your work. |
8. Rinse out the brush. |
9. Ask your teacher where to dump the bucket of cleaning solution. |
10. Clean up your work area. |
11. Wash your hands. |
Activity Four: Drying the Car
1. Gather materials. |
2. Get a clean chamois slightly wet. Wring it out. |
3. Rub the chamois over the car beginning at the top of the car. Wring it out as necessary. |
4. Dry the sides of the car. Wring the chamois out as necessary. |
5. Dry the back of the car. Wring the chamois out as necessary. |
6. Dry the car’s hood. Wring the chamois out as necessary. |

Activity Five: Cleaning Outside Windows
1. Gather materials. |
2. Get the glass cleaner and squeegee. |
3. Hold the spray 2 inches from the windshield. Starting in the middle, spray the windshield. |
4. With the rounded brush part of the squeegee, wipe the window in a top to bottom motion. |
5. Use the flat part of the squeegee to wipe left to right. |
6. Clean the other side of the windshield. |
7. Clean the remaining windows. |
8. Have your teacher check your work. |
9. Clean up your work area. |
10. Wash your hands. |
Activity Six: Cleaning the Interior
1. Gather materials. |
2. Use the cotton swab to wipe down the air vents and knobs or switches on the dashboard. |
3. Spray the leather conditioner on the microfiber towel. Wipe the top of the dashboard. If the steering wheel is leather, clean it too. |
4. Wipe all the door frames and door panels. |
5. Get the window cleaner and clean chamois or clean microfiber towel. |
6. Hold the cleaner 2 inches from the window and spray. |
7. Using the clean chamois or towel, wipe the window. Double-check for streaks and clean if necessary. Wash all the windows. |
8. Have your teacher check your work. |
9. Clean up your work area. |
10. Wash your hands. |
Activity Seven: Vacuuming the Car
1. Gather materials. |
2. Be careful when working with electricity! Have your teacher help you plug the vacuum in the extension cord and the outlet. |
3. Remove the floor mats from the car. |
4. Vacuum any loose dirt from the car seats. |
5. Vacuum loose dirt from the floor boards. |
6. Vacuum loose dirt from the floor mats. |
7. Put the floor mats back in the car. |
8. Have your teacher check your work. |
9. Clean up your work area. |
10. Wash your hands. |
