Recipients of the Cleaning Maintenance (Adapted) Digital Badge Credential have demonstrated concept proficiency and completed the following tasks:
Activity 1: Desktop Cleaning
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put on disposable gloves if desired. |
3. Connect the spray attachment to the faucet if needed. |
4. Put one gallon of water in the bucket. |
5. Put ½ cup of disinfectant cleaner in the water. |
6. Take everything off the desk. |
7. Wet the sponge in the cleaning solution. |
8. Squeeze the sponge out over the bucket. |
9. Scrub the desk top with the rough side of the sponge. Do not do this on a wood desk. |
10. First scrub left and right across the desk. |
11. Then scrub top to bottom on the desk. |
12. Use a clean reusable wipe to wipe soap off the desk. |
13. Rinse the sponge in clean water. |
14. Use the soft side of the sponge to rinse the desk. |
15. Dry the desk with a clean reusable wipe. |
16. Have your teacher check your work. |
17. Check with your teacher about where to empty the bucket. |
18. Rinse out your reusable wipes. |
19. Put your materials away. |
20. Put everything back on the desk. |
21. Wash your hands. |
Activity 2: Whiteboard Cleaning
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put on disposable gloves if desired. |
3. Shake the can of cleaner. |
4. You will start in the upper left corner. You will clean a small section of the board at a time. |
5. Take the lid off the cleaner. |
6. Hold the cleaner 3” away from the board. Spray across to the right side of the board and back to the left side. |
7. Wipe the top of the board clean with a reusable wipe. |
8. Clean the rest of the board. Make sure the whole board is clean. |
9. Take the erasers and markers or chalk out of the tray. |
10. Wipe the tray with the reusable wipe. |
11. Put the erasers and markers or chalk back on the tray. |
12. Have your teacher check your work. |
13. Rinse out your reusable wipes. |
14. Put your materials away. |
15. Wash your hands. |
Activity 3: Inside Window Cleaning
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put on disposable gloves if desired. |
3. Start in the upper left corner. Hold glass cleaner 6 to 8 inches from the glass. |
4. Spray across the window. Spray all of the window. |
5. Use a reusable wipe to dry left to right across the glass. |
6. Then wipe the glass from top to bottom. Wipe all the glass. |
7. Get a clean reusable wipe and wipe the window again. |
8. Have your teacher check your work. |
9. Rinse out your reusable wipes. |
10. Put your materials away. |
11. Wash your hands. |
Activity 4: Outside Window Cleaning
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put on disposable gloves if desired. |
3. Put the spray attachment on the faucet if needed. |
4. Fill the bucket with one gallon of warm water. |
5. Put ½ cup disinfectant cleaner in the water. |
6. Dip the squeegee into the cleaning solution. |
7. Use the brush side to brush across the window left to right. |
8. Then brush the window top to bottom. Brush the whole window. |
9. Put the rubber part of the squeegee on the top left corner of the window. |
10. Pull the squeegee down to the bottom of the window. |
11. Wipe the squeegee with a reusable wipe. |
12. Use the squeegee on the whole window. Move left to right. |
13. Wipe off the squeegee each time you pull it down. |
14. Have your teacher check your work. |
15. Rinse out your reusable wipe. |
16. Ask your teacher where to empty the bucket. |
17. Put your materials away. |
18. Wash your hands. |
Activity 5: Wall Washing
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put the spray attachment on the faucet if needed. |
3. Fill both sides of the divided bucket with one gallon of water. |
4. Put on the disposable gloves if desired. |
5. Add ½ cup disinfectant cleaner to one side of the bucket. |
6. Showed care if standing on a chair to do activity. Wipe the wall with a dry reusable wipe. |
7. Dip the sponge into the side of the bucket with the cleaning solution. |
8. Squeeze the sponge out over the bucket. |
9. Put the sponge on the wall as high as you can safely reach. |
10. Move the sponge from top to bottom in the area where you can reach. |
11. Move the sponge from left to right across the wall in the area where you can reach. Wash as much of wall as you can. |
12. Dip the second sponge into the clean rinse water. Squeeze out any extra water. |
13. Rinse the wall. |
14. Have your teacher check your work. |
15. Rinse the sponges with the rinse water. Squeeze them out over the bucket. |
16. Ask teacher where to empty the bucket. |
17. Put your materials away. |
18. Wash your hands. |
Activity 6: Dust Mop Sweeping
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put on disposable gloves if desired. |
3. Snap the dust mop head on the handle. |
4. Spray the dust spray on the mop head. |
5. Sweep down one side of the hall. |
6. Turn around and sweep down another part of the hall. Continue until all of the floor has been swept. |
7. Use the counter brush to sweep the loose dirt into the dust pan. |
8. Empty the dust pan into the trash can. |
9. Have your teacher check your work. |
10. Shake the dust mop outside. |
11. Put your materials away. |
12. Wash your hands. |
Activity 7: Wet Mopping and Disinfecting Floors
1. Gather materials |
2. Dust mop the area first as you have done previously. |
3. Put on disposable gloves if desired. |
4. Put the spray attachment on the faucet if needed. |
5. Fill mop bucket with four gallons of water. |
6. Pour two cups of disinfectant cleaner into the bucket. |
7. Put the mop in the bucket and push to the area to mop. |
8. Put the Caution Wet Floor sign near where you are going to mop. |
9. Put the mop head in the squeezer and squeeze out any extra cleaning solution. |
10. Start at one end of the area to mop. Swing the mop from side to side. |
11. Mop only what you can reach. Then move backward. Mop the new area. |
12. Stop often. Dip the mop into the bucket. Squeeze out the mop. |
13. Mop the whole room or hallway. |
14. Have your teacher check your work. |
15. Rinse the mop in clean water and squeeze out. |
16. Check with the teacher about where to empty the bucket. |
17. Put your materials away. |
18. Wash your hands. Take down the Caution Wet Floor sign when the floor is dry. |
Activity 8: Restroom Cleaning
1. Gather materials. |
2. Put on the disposable gloves if you want. |
3. Put materials in your jani-carrier. Take them to the restroom. |
4. Lift the lid on the toilet. Pour a little bowl cleaner into the toilet all the way under the rim. |
5. Hold the toilet brush over the toilet and pour a little cleaner on the toilet brush. |
6. Clean the inside of the toilet with the brush. Clean around under all the rim and inside the bowl. |
7. Flush the toilet and rinse the brush in the clear water. |
8. Shake the brush against the side of the bowl to remove water. |
9. Put the brush back in the jani-carrier. |
10. Wet a sponge in the sink and squeeze out. Squeeze some crème cleaner on the sponge. |
11. Wipe the top of the bowl and the bottom of the seat lid. |
12. Close the lid and wipe the top of the seat lid. |
13. Use a paper towel to wipe off any extra cleaner. |
14. Now you will clean a sink. Wet a clean sponge in the sink and squeeze out. |
15. Squeeze a small amount of crème cleaner on the sponge. |
16. Wipe the whole sink. |
17. Rub the faucets and handles with the crème cleaner. |
18. Wipe the faucets, handles, and sink with a reusable wipe. |
19. Spray the glass cleaner on the mirror. Wipe the mirror clean with a reusable wipe. |
20. Have your teacher check your work. |
21. Rinse out your sponges and reusable wipes. Put them in your jani-carrier. |
22. Put your materials away. |
23. Wash your hands. |
