Minnesota Embraces Mandates and Seeks Funding for WIOA Pre-Employment Services

WIOA recognizes that individuals can’t simply be thrust into the workforce without proper preparation. A recent article in The Minnesota Post highlights that additional state funding is necessary to achieve the worthy pre-employment transition goals of the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA). WIOA legislates a framework for fostering employment for all individuals, including those with disabilities.

Currently, the WIOA requirement for pre-employment transition services (Pre – ETS) for students with disabilities remains unfunded in Minnesota.

Pre-ETS provide the much needed preparation and training that paves the way for success in the workplace. Shawntera Hardy, Minnesota’s Commissioner of Employment and Economic Development, acknowledges that young disabled job seekers will be “the ones paying the price” if this WIOA requirement is not funded.

State-by-state, Project Discovery makes the Pre-ETS requirements easy to accomplish.

With the most comprehensive career exploration, skills training, job preparation and independent living programs available, we align with the WIOA Pre-ETS requirements.
